Carolyn describes herself as driven, stubborn and tenacious, and hopefully compassionate. Los Alamos, New Mexico, was her childhood home. Early years of life brought her opportunities to adventure through the wilderness from her own backyard, on her own, to become a skier, a climber, a mountain lover, run rivers, hike through remote regions, and develop an understanding for what truly matters. However, for a long time her heart clashed with family expectations. While working on (and receiving) degrees in English Lit, and as a Paralegal, she spent every minute she could away, mountain biking, climbing, telemark skiing, taking just enough credit hours at once to pass and play.
Nearing graduation she had to choose either the expected path or to make her own. At 23, Carolyn she chose the mountain path and has remained loyal to it or 12 years. She created Women's Mountain Biking Clinics, Telemark Ski Clinics, owned a climbing shoe resoling company, and a guide service. She has climbed full-time for more than a decade, run ultra-marathons, raced mountain bikes, and designed and created climbing clothing & chalk bags with a flare.
Working as a guide for the last eight years she has traveled from the Canadian Rockies, to the big walls of Yosemite and Utah's desert towers, from the Andes to the Himalaya and the Alps. Most recently, she and a friend opened a Fitness Facility, Climbing Gym, & guide service, all under one roof. (Some of) Carolyn's philosophies on life: don't just preach your politics live them, everything worth doing is worth doing well or not at all, be impeccable with your word it's really all you've got, put family and friends above all; be brilliant, bold, and beautiful: and yes screw anyone who thinks you can't.
